The website Stop44.org has recently posted a medical document which shows the brain colors of people who use Marijuana vs those who don't.
I actually love the quote on the Stop44 page that says "In fact, it may help to explain the bizarre emails we've been getting from some supporters of Amendment 44. Perhaps brain damage underlies their angry assertions that marijuana is actually good for you health."
Now, I'm not aware of anyone who claims Marijuana is "good for your health", but it does have very beneficial properties, and is definately an excellent sedative.. But we are all aware that inhaling smoke into our lungs is probably not the best way to stay healthy. But it is much SAFER than Alcohol seeing how no one has ever overdosed from Marijuana usage.
None-the-less, the prohibitionists throw out all sorts of colorful images claiming Marijuana causes brain damage. The quote in the article states "but unfortunately this medication has the side effect of causing the potential for long term damage to his brain. "
Well Stop44.org, While you may have big words and colorful pictures (people on acid may find more use from those than I did) I have reports from verified medical facilities that state that Marijuana doesn't show any brain damage from long-term usage.
How about this article from WebMD in 2003:
www.webmd.com/content/Article/70/80972.htm
Or maybe this report from 1992 which showed no brain damage in Marijuana Exposed Monkeys
paranoia.lycaeum.org/marijuana/facts/3-mj-myths
Or maybe even this article from alcoholism.about.com
alcoholism.about.com/cs/pot/a/blucsd030628.htm
Just another example of how our opponents are trying to deceive the voters. It's time to end the deception. Vote YES on 44!

July 1, 2003 -- Long-term and even daily marijuana use doesn't appear to cause permanent brain damage, adding to evidence that it can be a safe and effective treatment for a wide range of diseases, say researchers. The researchers found only a "very small" impairment in memory and learning among long-term marijuana users.

Two new scientific studies have failed to find evidence
of brain damage in monkeys exposed to marijuana, undercutting
claims that marijuana causes brain damage in humans.
The studies were conducted by two independent
research groups. The first, conducted by Dr. William Slikker,
Jr. and others at the National Center for Toxicological Research
in Arkansas examined some 64 rhesus monkeys, half of which
were exposed to daily or weekly doses of marijuana smoke for
a year. The other, by Gordon T. Pryor and Charles Rebert at SRI
International in Menlo Park, California, which is still
unpublished, looked at over 30 rhesus monkeys that had inhaled
marijuana one to three times a day over periods of 6 to 12
months. Neither study found evidence of structural or
neurochemical changes in the brains of the monkeys when
examined a few months after cessation of smoking.

An analysis of research studies with long-term, recreational users of marijuana has failed to reveal a substantial, systematic effect on the neurocognitive functioning of users.
