Amendment 44 aids drug dealers, not the well-being of community

This article was published today in the Grand Junction Sentinel from a concerned citizen regarding Amendment 44. Here is obviously someone else who has not fully read the text of the imitative. Amendment 44 proposes a simple change to the Colorado statutes and does NOT seek a change of constitution.
And again this is someone who prefers the ideology of a perfect world rather than accepting the reality of which we live. The writer wishes to:
Obviously this person is completely oblivious to the reality of the world which we live. We have drug companies pushing Ritalin and Prozac as if they were sweet-tarts, alcohol companies who advertise their products anywhere and everywhere possible and I can't even turn on the TV now days without seeing a commercial for at least 2 or 3 different drugs within an hour.
It would be nice to live in a world where people didn't feel the need to self-medicate in order to get through the day, but in reality this is just not the case. The writer has obviously failed to grasp the gravity of the situation. It is completely unrealistic to think that after almost 100 years of prohibition, after billions of dollars spent and millions of people arrested that this war will ever improve. Therefore the only option left is for our society to wise up and realize that legalization and taxation are the only viable solutions to this problem.
And as a final note, the writer also makes a point to state
How did the writer come up with this assumption? Through my many years I've known many people who sold Marijuana but it's extremely rare that those same people are also selling Methamphetamine or Cocaine. Most dealers I have known in my days are not junkies nor try to push harder drugs on anyone. They are usually just trying to spread the peaceful herb while allowing themselves to smoke for free.
This is just another lie that the prohibitions are using to fill the minds of the disillusioned.

help our entire community to deal with the demons and the desires that push people to self-medicate and to use any substance to alter their personality or their perception of reality. There are ways for us to feel good about ourselves without using substances to do it

It will only give more money to the drug pushers who are also pushing cocaine and methamphetamine.
