Pot Proponents Shouting Down Governor

The press conference today was a huge success. I didn't count the number of people that showed but I heard one guy mention that he had counted 50 people and that was before the press conference even started! I would estimate between 55 - 70 people showed for the event.

There was a huge sea of green at the bottom of the West steps to welcome the Govonor and his cronies when they approached the podium.

When John Suthers started to speak the entire crowd started to chant:

HEY, HEY
HO, HO
YOU SAY DRINK
WE SAY NO

I don't think anyone in the entire crowd heard a word he said (not that it matters.. that guy is an idiot anyway).

I definately think that we managed to steal the attention from our opponents. Hopefully it will generate some good news coverage and sway potential voters.

I've got a few pictures (my batteries died 1/2 way through the event) and I will post them later. I encourage others to post pics if they have any as well.

The Denver Channel has now posted a video. I am however disappointed that the video doesn't highlight anything from Mason's press conference and they seemed to highlight that the crowd wouldn't allow the governor to speak.

Looks like it turned into a total circus. The news didn't play one word from his speech. All you heard was the Safer people chanting.

Besides the clowns with Owens, were there any anti-44 supporters in the crowd?

Using the excuse that pilots or bus drivers will be working stoned is ridiculous. Its about personal responsibility. They make it out to be like nobody that smokes pot has any sense of responsibility.

Just another scare tactic.

I have talked to alot of people.I got positive feedback.If we hadnt shouted them down.Then we would of saw news networks spouting lies for 2 days,but now the news is what we did.I think it will help us.I truly think the people whining over this,are just that whining.ONCE THEY SAID THAT BAILEY CRAP.THEY DESERVED WHAT THEY GOT.LYING ISNT FREE SPEECH.KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.I dont think its a negative,i would redirect anyones concern to the concern of 70 yrs of lies. WHEN THAT SHERIFF,tried to say marijuana smokers are gonna shot up schools that was the end of that press conference.THEY PURPOSELY SAID THOSE LIES,they just didnt think we would call them out live in a press conference,keep up the pressure.kenny

I agree with Kenny, we need to shout them down. We definately stole the attention away from their lies and instead of the media focusing on that, they instead focused on the supporters of Amendment 44.

The crowd never let up and cheered when Suthers finished his speech. They taunted the governor: "Lie louder Bill, we can’t hear you."

Owens and Suthers were also joined by Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener, who became famous during the Platt Canyon High School shooting in Bailey that resulted in the sexual assault of several girls and the murder of 16-year-old Emily Keyes.

Wegener tried to link the amendment to the tragedy.

"What about the possibilities of this individual being a pilot or a bus driver?" he asked the crowd. "The potential consequences of their actions are too horrific to ignore. Couldn’t happen? That’s what was said about a school shooting in Bailey."

The crowd jeered.

I think this article in the Chieftain was a little biased in favor of the Governor and his cronies. But I think we all already know how the Chieftain feels on this issue so it's no surprise.


And there is also a pretty harsh opinion about us in the Rocky Mountain News. Although, they did print a story that I did enjoy, Owens drug talk no love-in

The crowd chanted: "What do we want? A safer choice. When do we want it? Now."

Owens tried to take a question from a television reporter over the chants, and it looked like it might not happen when Tvert raised his arms like Moses over the Red Sea and the crowd immediately stopped.

"Wow. Boy, that's amazing," Owens said sarcastically.

Tvert might be pushing pot, but wasn't passing the peace pipe.

MASON GREAT WORK,news is covering it all over.If we hadnt shown up.We would be hearing owens and suthers BS for the next few days,now what we hear is ,we are fed up with their lies and misleading and mis informing about amendment 44.OWENS AND SUTHERS AND CORRUPT LAW ENFORCEMENT now know we are not going to put up with their lies.This will only motivate people to vote for amendment 44,people who are voting against already are.Educated voters know who is lying,owens suthers and crew.KEEP THE PRESSUE ON AND CALLOUT ALL THE LIES COMING FROM THE PROHIBITIONISTS.

Perhaps if we shouted down more of our officials more often we'd live in a MUCH better society. Great job, Mason, Evan, Scotty and all the volunteers there!!! I was just ecstatic with the turn out.

the gov said that he thought it was a sad day for colorado, well i was there(if you watched the channel 7 broadcast, i was the guy yelling...sneaky little cameraman got me and i didnt even notice him there) and i thought it was a great day for americans everywhere. the government is now realizing that we will not go quietly with our tails between our legs when they start spewing their lies
